How does SAP work?
The basis behind a SAP assessment is assessing how much energy a dwelling will consume, by using standard assumptions for occupancy and behaviour – which enables comparisons across the board.
SAP quantifies performance through unit floor area usage, a fuel-cost-based energy efficiency rating and CO2 emissions. The performance indicators are based on estimated annual energy consumption for space heating, hot water, ventilation and lighting. Further SAP outputs contain appliance energy use, as well as seasonal overheating and cooling.
